GENERAL SUMMARY:

 

Supervise staff of purchasing professionals tasked with identifying sources, evaluating capabilities, negotiating contracts and managing supplier performance for materials, supplies, equipment and services to support company requirements. 

 

Provide leadership for Buyer/Planner commodity teams.  Work in conjunction with Strategic Sourcing to develop and execute sourcing strategies for commodities.  Negotiate; implement; and monitor supply agreements. Develop relationships with strategic suppliers and internal clients and manage implications. Monitor business conditions, understand impact on purchasing, and develop plans to mitigate.  Develop plans to stratify suppliers within commodity. Manage total cost of commodity spend.  Manage group of Buyer/Planners.  Create and execute supplier development plans.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Functional Activities

q Ensure supplier capabilities supports pipeline visibility targets & capacity needs

q Receive and disseminate production requirements

q Owner of the FWB Supplier Schedules to support FWB Production needs

q Actively manage the supplier scheduling and planning functions:

? Interface with production areas

? Interface with Strategic Sourcing & Demand Planning

? Interface with Engineering & Q.A.

? Interpret demand

? Assess capacity/material availability

? Monitor daily material rejections

q Accurate and timely execution of transactions

q Ensure accuracy of materials purchased.

q Manage material changes to minimize obsolescence

q Manages inventory targets within budgetary requirements

 

Team Work

q Support FWB Management decisions with clear and aligned communications and actions

q Lead by example with excellent diligence, planning, analysis, and communications.

q Work to understand the expertise provided by other functions. This allows for enhancing personal expertise and insight, while improving cross-functional coordination.

q Help clear barriers to team progress.

 

Project Management

q Participate and facilitate necessary FWB meetings as appropriate. Issue agendas and minutes. Track progress against project plans and action items.

q Work outside of meetings to resolve issues and to network through the organization to enhance understanding and to gain necessary input.

q Drive toward excellence in analysis and decision-making

 

Communication

q Clarify options and recommendation solutions off-line to ensure good meetings and program reviews

q Communicate frequently with all levels of the organization. This includes FWB team members and FWB functional managers

 

EDUCATION:

 

? Bachelor?s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or related field

? Certification in APICS and/or ISM is highly desired.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

 

Job Experience

q 2+ years experience in professional procurement/supplier mgmt position

q 2+ years in a supervisor or manager capacity with exposure with both tactical and strategic supply teams.

q Knowledge of procurement and/or ERP systems

q Knowledge/experience with eSourcing tools preferred.

q Knowledge of developing supplier quality systems and supplier performance metrics.

q Experience in highly technical and regulated industry

q Experience implementing lean concepts (Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen Leadership, 5S, etc). Lean/Six Sigma certification (black belt or green belt) is desired.

q Prior experience implementing a pull system/kanban approach to component flow desired.
