We are looking for a Program Manager - Electronics to work with adidas to enable the use of cutting edge technology in footwear products. 

In this role, you will work directly with the advanced innovation team - across all of adidas in categories (running, training, basketball, cleated, etc.). 

By maintaining a close relationship with the advanced footwear development team, develop a thorough understanding of electronic (*Intelligent*) technologies and the challenges in their full commercial execution, and contribute to the assessment and selection of component parts.

Ensure that critical quality risks are determined and negated during the concept and commercialization phases of the creation cycle.

Work with components and material vendors to understand all aspects of the supply chain: pricing, delivery constraints, technical constraints, contractual and confidentiality parameters, and other relevant business issues as they may occur, and apply this knowledge to the commercial outcome.

Coordinate with necessary global operations functions as needed to assist in successful development and execution of the projects through their various stages.

Fulfill the duties of a Project Manager in terms of BOM creation, establishing timelines, best practices and standards to be followed for successful project completion and product launch.

Assist in commercial negotiations with vendors on aspects of tooling costs, development expenses, and overall transparency in costing.

Establish and ensure that the structure is in place to facilitate the moving of parts and finished shoes across borders. Help build a strong Tier 2 supplier base of key electronic components and ensure they all meet our client*s vendor guidelines.

Involved in assessing & authorizing Tier 2 electronic supplier contractual agreements.

Document all supply chain information necessary for use by liaison offices and suppliers to work efficiently with component, raw material, packaging, transport and technology providers.

Coordinate with planning departments, forecast, demand and allocation of technology components.

Coordinate with the quality department on appropriate certification of suppliers and incoming / outgoing inspection of products by factories. Assist in the training of client factories, as needed
 

Required Asia Experience:Experienced with Tier 1 and Tier 2 Asian manufacturers and the challenges associated with managing quality/production from the US.  The ideal candidate will also have a strong network or rolodex of Asian electronic and mechanical suppliers.Experience sourcing and qualifying Asian electronic/mechanical manufacturers and suppliers.  Price negotiation and cost estimation experience is also required.Technical knowledge of electronic component assembly and manufacturing.

Required ExperienceTechnical  (EE) degree or business degree in a related field (electronics/logistics) 5 to 10 years of experience in commercialization / merchandising, development or production. Very good understanding of business issues associated with footwear product launch * pricing, sourcing, logistics, tooling, negotiation strategy, quality, project management and team work. Experience with robotics or consumer electronics strongly preferred.

Importance of the Position in the Organization

This is the first role of its type in the adidas organization.  The person in this role will have a significant impact on product development (sourcing, operations, and design) * across all categories with regard to the use of technology in new products.  As this is a new position for adidas, the person in this role will be able to influence how the position evolves.  Consequently, we are looking for an entrepreneurial minded individual able to build this role from the "ground up." We want someone eager to excel in this role and able to build relationships across the adidas matrix to get things done.
