RF Design Engineer

Position Summary:



Responsible for providing technical leadership and rf engineering expertise from product

concept through production release. This individual will design and develop novel, leading

edge, RF power generators and RF systems for use in industrial electronics applications. Must be able to operate independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, dynamic, highly technical environment and work on cross-functional projects. A successful candidate must be highly self-motivated and have a deep fundamental understanding of RF hardware and networks.



Position Details:Develop electrical hardware designs that meet various technical, financial, geometric, and other design constraints using combination of modeling, simulation, prototyping, testing, or analysis. Guide the fabrication, test, qualification, and release to production of this hardware. Work with the product development team to formulate the specifications for the product, and to flow down these specifications to the product subsystems. Design and verify the rf measurement and control networks, including specifying their accuracies.Lead implementation with support staff in PCB and chassis level prototyping, testing, documentation and review. Have proficiency in using schematic diagram development tools (e.g., VIEWLOGIC), component layout tools (e.g., PADS), and simulation tools (e.g., SPICE).Communicate effectively in both oral and written form critical technical information regarding rf and electrical system design and performance.Develop models for simulations to analyze transient behavior, thermal stress response, electrical noise and probable failure modes of electronic components and subsystems. Design and set up test-benches, perform extensive and careful experiments, collect and analyze data, and implement proposed improvements. Collaborate in testing interactions of product with plasma loads. Support new technology development initiatives and other critical projects. Communicate effectively in both oral and written form critical technical information regarding electronic and electrical system design and performance. Interface with product engineering and other cross-functional teams as required.

Basic Minimum Requirements:MSEE in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. 5 years experience in RFor power electronics or network design.  Experience with RF simulation tools such as SPICE and VIEWLOGIC or equivalent packages. Hands-on laboratory experience is critical and required. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Additional Preferred Requirement:Experience with interactions of high power electronics and plasmas a plus. Experience with RF power above the 1 kW level and RF power amplifier design preferred.
