Senior Designer

Union Switch & Signal is looking for a Senior Designer for our Batesburg, SC manufacturing facility:

 

Purpose:

Prepares clear, complete and accurate working plans and detailed drawings from conception (or from sketches or notes) for Engineering or Manufacturing purposes

 

Prepared according to specified dimensions and established guidelines such as IPC and Machinist Handbook as well as sound engineering practice.

 

Duties: Create final copy drawings and sketchesCreation of and refinement of concept drawings for new designsRevisions to existing drawings and sketchesAssisting engineers with new product design or re-design effortsCalculations and verification for strength and durability of designsDesign improvements for manufacturability

 

Essential Skills: Two year Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Drafting and related work experienceMust have a fundamental grasp of engineering principles and practices, materials characteristics and selection and manufacturing practicesMust be able to manage, organize and prioritize tasksMust be able to function as a team leaderMust be able to clearly and accurately provide written and visual instructionsMust be computer proficient in the MS Windows operating system and MS Office applications. Must be proficient with Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software packagesMust have excellent mechanical aptitude as well as mathematical and physical science skillsMust be able to work directly with suppliers in the start up and manufacture of new productsAll efforts will have significant impact on quality, cost, delivery and manufacturability

 

Preferred skills:Excellent knowledge of Intergraph Microstation (E.M.S.), P-CAD, Solid Edge and Auto CAD softwareStrong background in manufacturing assembly techniques, including building, testing and verifying prototype designs MUST have PC Board Design experience (when submitting your resume: please describe your experience in this area)

 

Physical Requirements: Regular working cycle of this job is Mon.-Fri; however, exception may include working weekends (Saturday and Sunday) Overtime may be requiredTravel out of state for brief periods may be required
