Sr. Electrical Engineer

Verari Systems?, the premier developer of powerful, flexible and scalable platform-independent systems, located in San Diego is seeking a full time Sr. Electrical Engineer.

 

Role and responsibility

 

This engineer will work under limited supervision and be involved in all phases of electrical development from assisting with system architecture to debugging production problems.  This position will also serve as a mentor to less senior engineers.

 

Required Experience:

 10+ years experience interfacing embedded processors with the real worldEmbedded processors such as LPC2292, LPC2148, PIC16F818Strong understanding of complex circuit board design such as motherboards, backplanes, and backplanesProgramming experience with C/C++, AssemblyExperience analyzing, designing, and debugging I2C. SPI, RS-232, RS-485, USB serial busses, and high speed serial busses such as SATA3-Phase 208/480VAC power experience Control Algorithm developmentExtensive experience with MS Office, Orcad, Keil UVisionUL/CSA/FCC agency certification experienceExperience with driving products from concept through productionExperience with refining systems requirements and generating architectural design and test specs.Experience with DFT and DFMExperience as a project lead and mentoring less senior engineersFirmware development Experience working with remote development and third party outsourced design.Able to effectively work with all levels of management, buyers, scheduling, and production line workers to help solve issues relating to scheduling, manufacturing, and architecture

 

Desired experience:

 PCB layout experience with PADS Linux/embedded linuxSwitchmode power supply designEmbedded firmware design with RTOSSolidworks FPGA/CPLD design using Xlinx/Altera/Lattice

 

This position is looking for a well rounded embedded engineer that is not afraid of Low Voltage AC and medium voltage DC power systems.  This person must be intimately familiar with I2C, SPI, RS-232 and multidrop RS-485.  The ability to communicate clearly and thoroughly with all levels of management, production, and purchasing is a requirement.  Pads PCB design experience and firmware development is also desirable although not a hard requirement.  This engineer will have extensive experience with hands on troubleshooting and will be comfortable with both low level processor debug, high speed serial i/o and working on 3-phase 480VAC power problems.

 

This engineer must be comfortable working and communicating with personnel ranging from the line worker in production to test technicians to fellow engineers both electrical and mechanical.
