Staff Design Engineer-Analog

Background

The ARM PHY group is a dynamic, rapidly growing team with world-class expertise in analog and mixed-signal system design. We are currently designing and marketing leading edge interface IP for the memory and serial interface markets. Our memory products include DDR1/DDR2 and GDDR3 PHYs operating at speeds up to 1.8GHz. We deliver solutions for multiple serial interface standards including PCI Express, S-ATA, XAUI and others. These products operate at data rates from 1 Gbps to over 6 Gbps, and are either in production or development at 130nm, 90nm and 65nm semiconductor processes for various foundries and IDMs.

 

Design centers for the PHY group are located in Raleigh, North Carolina and San Diego, California.  We have a multi-disciplinary team composed of marketing and technical professionals with expertise in such areas as analog and mixed-signal circuit design, digital system design, PCB design, high-speed lab testing, and test chip design. Role

The right candidate will be an integral contributor to next-generation SerDes designs at ARM.  The engineer could be responsible for any combination of these tasks:

-  Mentor team members on design methodology and best design practices

-  Development of new architecture

-  Design and Layout of PHY blocks

-  Design Verification (individual and top-level)

-  Conduct feasibility assessments

-  Creation of design documentation

Personal Requirements

- minimum BSEE ( prefer MSEE or PhD.  )

Essential Technical Skills

 

- minimum 5 years electrical design experience with 2 years physical design (layout) experience

- minimum 2 years experience designing high-speed PHYs

- minimum 3 years experience working with Cadence EDA tools

 

Desirable Skills

- Knowledge of various SerDes standards

- Experience designing multiple sub-blocks of the PHY

- Experience with top level verification, mixed-signal verification
