A major consumer electronics manufacturing company is seeking a talented technical writer at their Torrance office.

 

Job Title: Technical Writer

Department: Technical Writer / Service Division

Reports To:   Technical Service Manager

 

Summary:  Coordinates the layout and manual organization, following Company guideline. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Coordinates the layout and manual organization, following Company guideline, Acquires and organizes basic source material, including applicable specifications, engineering specifications, and drawing packages.  Assesses documentation requirements for release documentation, schedule resources, review drafts, and ensure documentation is finished when development is complete.  Writes various documentation for consumer electronics and / or somewhat complex products.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Requires an understanding of and experience with manufacturers? production process, requires a minimum of 3 years hardware documentation experience; experience with a variety of Consumer electronics, Televisions, DVD players, VCR, DVD recorders LCD Displays is a plus. Background in consumer electronics, PC industry, or e-commerce software is preferred.
Experience developing and writing end user and technical manuals, requires a good understanding of hardware development lifecycle, must have excellent and proven verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with developers, non-technical managers, operations, and end users. Very good computer skills are required. Experience with Microsoft Access, Excel, and Word is a must. 

 

Education and/or Experience:

Associates or Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English or Journalism, (AA, AS, BA or BS) from two or four-year college or university or equivalent technical
writing experience.

 

Language Skills:  

Ability to read and interpret a variety of office documents such as excel spread sheets, MS word Documents and billing documentation.  Ability to write English, correspondence and email, must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to speak effectively and present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, vendors or employees of organization.

 

Computer Skills:  

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of famous office software such as Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.
