Marketing Officer

A downtown Chicago Company has a vacancy for a dynamic Marketing Officer. The officer will have an opportunity to contribute to South Africa's vision of economic prosperity.

Main duties:
1. Advise and guide South African companies in the development of export opportunities and strategies into the USA.
2. Monitor market trends, researching and identifying potential market opportunities for specific companies/sectors, report writing, providing guidance on appropriate distribution channels/tools, mentoring and follow - up 3. Assist with the facilitation of recruitment of Foreign Direct investment into South Africa.
4. Establish and maintain contact with Chambers of commerce, business organizations and investment organizations, industry associations etc.
5. Liaise with government departments and with bi-and multilateral trade and investment organizations 6. Assist with organize trade shows as well as inward and outward trade and investment missions from and to South Africa 7. Submission of regular progress reports on projects to the Trade Consul. Head of Mission and Head Office in South Africa 8. Manage the day to day operations of the economic office in the absence of the Trade Consul 9. Preparation of sector specific marketing briefs and market survey reports 10. Conduct sector specific and or industry specific research.

 

 

 

Requirements
1. An appropriate degree in Economics and marketing with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
2. Experience in the area of trade and or investment and business development
3. The ability to interact at a very high level and build networks
4. Sound knowledge of economic conditions and domestic business opportunities in the Midwestern USA
5. Knowledge of the South African Economy
6. Computer literacy in the full MS word package 7. Mature person with excellent command of verbal and written English
8. Good presentation skills and the ability to speak with authority
9. Ability to work in a multicultural and dynamic environment
10. Self motivated, innovative and dynamic individual who is able to work independently and can cope under pressure.
