Account Manager II
Overview:
We are looking for talented sales and service-oriented individuals to manage relations with our largest and most complex business customers and, along the way, play a vital role in helping customers manage their energy costs and enhance their energy efficiency. AM2 positions offer a considerable exposure to PG&E business operations and an opportunity for stimulating professional growth. The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, strong analytical and quantitative skills, a background in teamwork, poise in working with many levels of staff, strong organizational and planning skills, initiative and enthusiasm, and strong interpersonal skills. Responsibilities:
Relationship Management:
Delight customers by applying interpersonal skills, relationship management skills/techniques, and portfolio-based consultative sales team approaches. Possess and apply strong sales skills and sales team leadership skills to establish and maintain close relationships with large and complex business customers (in some cases including state and local government officials). Serve as a trusted advisor to meet customer satisfaction and Integrated Demand Side Management (IDSM) goals. Develop and execute specific strategic action plans to effectively position PG&E products and services as win-win solutions to customer business needs. Position PG&E as the preferred supplier of energy products and services. If appropriate, join and be active in local industry organizations. Make sales and service presentations to executive-level decision makers (may include city councils, boards of supervisors, boards of education, etc.). Gather in-depth knowledge of customer business operations, industry trends, decision making processes, and challenges and opportunities.
Technical Support and Customer Service:
Serve as a sales-appropriate technical expert for energy efficiency programs. When needed, secure more-advanced technical expertise (such as consultants, other department experts, peers). Act as a technical resource for customer concerns. Be the customer liaison to all PG&E customer contact processes (such as service planning, planned shutdowns, billing, credit, etc.). Understand all PG&E processes and procedures that touch the customer at a level sufficient enough to allow rapid and effective response to customer needs. Establish effective internal relationships to help clear barriers to customer satisfaction. Facilitate solutions and successfully advocate process improvements to better meet customer needs.
Special Projects:
Lead or participate in special teams to enhance the business customer experience and attain PG&E IDSM goals. Oversee the implementation of team action plans to achieve company goals. When needed, provide peer coaching for other account managers.
Essential/Required:5 + years of a demonstrated track record of applying portfolio-based consultative sales skills and sales team leadership and strong interpersonal skills Technical skills to understand, explain, and recognize opportunities with energy end use systems (including CEE, demand response, and self-generation) General knowledge of energy industry issues, e.g., gas and electric transmission and distribution systems; rates, tariffs, and contracts; energy products and utility customer contact processes Able to work 50-60 hour weeks when needed; a reliable vehicle and good driving record to meet PG&E insurance standardsBA/BS (Advanced degree, PE license, or other relevant certifications preferred)
