Accounting Analyst

 

Responsibilities:

 

Cash account reconciliation:

Maintain the integrity of financial statement information by performing and enforcing routine control procedures over the preparation of accounting documentation related to monthly cash deposits in excess of $1 billion. Perform and organize the routine monthly reconciliation procedures related to cash deposits (general ledger, billing system and bank records). Ensure the accuracy of customer deposits and cash balances by researching and resolving reconciling differences in a timely manner. Maintain compliance with stated accounting policies and procedures. Review and approve bank reconciliation documentation and journal entry support produced by clerical staff.  Provide support and direction to bank reconciliation clerical staff on routine processing issues and procedures. Collaborate as group subject matter expert with other department staff and external bank personnel to ensure outstanding reconciling items are resolved on a timely and efficient basis. Liaise with the corporate accounting department, internal and external auditors to resolve inquiries related to cash and internal controls. Consistently identify and implement process improvements to address financial and operational risks alongside timely maintenance of accurate policies and procedures documentation (including Sarbanes Oxley: SOx). 

 

Customer refunds:

Organize and review the routine monthly reconciliation of the customer refund account (general ledger to billing system).  Liaise with other department staff, as a subject matter expert, to ensure outstanding reconciling items are resolved on a timely and efficient basis. Maintain compliance with stated accounting policies and procedures.  Review and approve customer refund manual check requests and any customer refund exceptions. Provide support and direction to customer refund clerical staff on routine processing issues and procedures. Work with local office (customer service locations) to resolve inquiries regarding customer refunds. Perform review of routine monthly journal entry documentation produced by clerical support. Consistently identify and implement process improvements to address financial and operational risks alongside timely maintenance of accurate policies and procedures documentation (including Sarbanes Oxley - SOx). 

 

Specific projects:

Participate in special projects as identified, with involvement to include design, testing, documentation and implementation phases of the project. Assist in department-wide initiatives, including SOx testing and documentation, performance measurement, safety and emergency procedures.

 

Essential/Required:3+ years experience in an accounting environment, e.g., reconciliation, deposits, GL, monthly statementsAccounting or finance-related four year degree Excellent written and verbal communication skillsSolid MS Office skills, including Excel, Access and Word

 

Marginal/Desired:CPA or equivalent SOx
