Description:
The Strategic Planning Analyst role offers a unique opportunity to assist in the financial management and strategic analysis of a recognized leader in the energy industry, serving as a platform to gain hands-on business experience with high-level exposure to critical decision making processes in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be energetic and team-oriented with rigorous analytical and quantitative skills and strong strategic thinking ability.

The position is responsible for developing key analysis and recommendations related to TXU?s ongoing decision making and long-term strategic planning. The position will have significant exposure to senior management, working on a team that directly reports to the CFO on strategic and operational topics, ranging from analysis of new business opportunities to the assessment of current business strategies. The team is also responsible for supporting the CEO with preparation for Board of Directors meetings, internal executive management meetings and external presentations. Expertise in problem solving, finance, accounting, modeling and communications are required.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

The Analyst will be one of Strategic Planning?s lead analytical experts, responsible for understanding and modeling key operational and financial drivers, and their impacts on TXU. In this position, the candidate will be required to:

? Model operational and financial assumptions for TXU?s major business units leveraging an excel based model that details income statement, cash flow statement and balance sheet effects
? Identify emerging operational and financial opportunities and issues facing TXU
? Develop, summarize and communicate key findings to TXU?s management with clear and concise storylines describing the fact-based analysis in writing as well as verbally
? Serve as thought partner with team members and across business units to resolve complex financial issues
? Perform scenario and sensitivity analysis that drive a deep understanding of key value levers in the energy industry
? Perform in-depth research and analyses supporting key business and strategy initiatives
? Evaluate trade-offs, risks and benefits embedded in strategic alternatives, and assist in the subsequent decision-making process
? Assist with investor relations, strategy, and development related activities
? Assist in the development effort of corporate-wide benchmarks
? Perform peer group analysis of key financial metrics and ratios
? Develop reports and presentations for internal and external communications
? Ensure accuracy and quality control in all aspects of financial planning and modeling

This position requires expertise in problem solving, accounting, finance, excel modeling and communications/presentations.


Qualifications:
Experience/Attributes:

? 2+ years experience with a demonstrated track-record of success in an investment bank, Big 4 accounting firm, top tier management consulting firm, or at a Fortune 500 company in a strategy, planning, or business development role
? Self-starter with the ability to drive independent problem-solving
? Significant experience with excel based models and techniques
? Energetic, intellectually curious and performance driven
? Able to work well in a team environment and across functions and businesses
? Undergraduate degree in engineering, finance, economics or related discipline. GPA of 3.5 or better
? A strong work ethic
