Budget Analyst

ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE

This position is accountable for the preparation, monitoring and day-to-day administration of the station?s operations, maintenance, and other energy budgets.  The position is responsible for reporting all financial activity as well as developing the monthly financial results package. Also responsible for the preparation of annual budget, and working with the outage scheduler in providing detailed cost monitoring of major outage expenditures. Detailed cost documentation to station users is required.  The position coordinates the processing of system information to support the accounting, accounts payable, and procurement activities at the station level. This position has strong interaction with the financial processes and will provide support to the Corporate Accounting Group.   REQUIREMENTS

This position requires that the incumbent have a thorough knowledge of general accounting and budgeting principles. Experience with Great Plains and Excel, as well as a thorough understanding of budgeting and financial analysis, is required. A degree in Accounting, Finance or a Business-related field, along with six (six) years of applicable experience is desired. Proficient analytical and effective communication skills are required.  The incumbent should possess good organization skills and work well with others.  Great Plains software a plus. Must have Power Plant Experience.

 PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Coordinate information for the development of the station?s annual budget and station plan. 

 

2. Effectively monitor the operations, maintenance and other energy budgets through development of effective programs to track, analyze and report actual expenditures to budget data.  Variance reporting of actual to budget is also required. 

 

3. Track expenditures and provide timely updates for forced and scheduled outages to station personnel.  Also support station personnel with timely expenditure reports and analysis of information as needed. 

 

4. Coordinate budget-planning activities within the Corporate Financial Process. 

 

5. Understand and support the Great Plains and Data Stream 7i Structure for financial processing at the station.

 

6. Coordinate activities to support timely and accurate processing of system information supporting the accounts payable and procurement processes. 

 

7. Assist the Business Services and Plant Manager in performance of special duties and assignments as required.
