POSITION SPECIFICATION

Business Development Manager- Boston

 

CLIENT:   Our client is the Energy Services division of a $32B Multi National firm headquartered in Paris.  They are a public company listed in New York and Paris, employing more than 310,000 people in 76 countries.  In North America alone, they employ 25,000 people and have revenues of $2.5 billion. 

 

Our client is the $8 billion energy and facilities services arm of their parent company with North American headquarters in Quincy, Massachusetts.  They provide energy utility management and facilities management services to their clients in order to optimize financial and environmental performance of energy facilities.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:  The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying and developing long-term, integrated, energy services contracts and will lead the pursuit of new business opportunities by establishing strong relationships with existing and potential clients

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:  Vice President, Business Development

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

? Identify potential customers and develop relationships with key decision makers in the client organization in order to assess opportunities with the company

? Act as primary focal point with the client

? Manage and participate in proposal preparation, pricing and presentations to customers

? Formulate and write technical proposals reflecting the strategic approach towards developing a new project

? Lead negotiations with clients, including preparation of contracts and possible structuring of financing solutions

? Manage internal development activities including technical audits by development engineers

? Must serve as a close liaison with other members in the team (operations, finance, legal, insurance, risk management, etc.)  throughout the entire sales process

? Assess competitor strengths, weaknesses and strategic direction

 

MINIMAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

 

? Ten to fifteen years experience in business development within the energy services industry; must have knowledge of U.S. energy markets (natural gas, oil, coal and electricity)

? Must have experience within the commercial industry, preferably servicing clients in the Northeast

? Needs to understand the financial aspects of the business, including how to calculate return on investment by utilizing sophisticated Microsoft Excel financial models

? Knowledge of energy service and outsourcing contracts and a proven track record in closing complex deals is required

? Ability to build rapport with clients and listen to their needs in order to create customized client solutions

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

? Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Bachelor?s Degree in related discipline and equivalent technical experience; P.E. designation preferred.
