Control Center Operator (Electrical Utilities)

Currently seeking candidates that have a background in Electrical Engineering (Or equivalent experience to description below)  and who are customer service oriented and thrive in a team oriented environment. Candidates with experience in the Power Distribution/Energy Industry/Public Utilities are desired. The ideal candidate will have both an electrical engineering background and experience working in a control center (i.e.. NOC, Help Desk)  There are  (2) positions in RI and (2) in MA.


DUTIES:

Prepare and issue orders to direct switching and tagging activities enabling removal (and later restoration) of electrical substation and distribution equipment from service for maintenance, repair and/or new construction.  During and following system disturbances, analyze (through field reports, alarms, and real time status) causes of trouble. Formulate and then issue switching orders to sectionalize to safely isolate faulted electrical equipment and restore as many customers as possible to service.  Maintain an awareness of system conditions (via Energy Management System EMS and other sources) and arrange/rearrange the configuration of the distribution system so that equipment is kept within prescribed operating limits at all times
Power Systems Knowledge Highly Desireable. Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of power substation and distribution construction and associated relay and control systems desired.
Must have the ability to assimilate data from a variety of sources, and quickly formulate and execute action plans based on that data during periods of high stress.
Must be an effective team player with excellent listening, oral and written communication skills.
Must have an operating knowledge of personal computers with an aptitude to learn and excel in use of  Energy Management System (EMS) and other systems used by the Control Center.
Experience in Utilities / Electric/ Water/ Gas- systems operations.
