Distribution Dispatcher

Position is located in Groveport. OH.

Position Duties:

Responsible for providing assistance with the security and service continuity of the distribution system; arranging and approving distribution switching operations to effectively maintain or restore customer service; and dispatching, directing and monitoring and maintaining in-service status of the distribution system with the Region, including assisting with dispatching and directing employees to effect rapid restoration of service to customers. Critical decisions must be made affecting reliability and priority of service restoration to customers. Must work under pressure during periods of critical system conditions and deal with diverse situations simultaneously. Must be able to analyze information and communicate instructions clearly and precisely.

Work Hours / Travel Requirements:

This position involves daytime, afternoon, overnight, and weekend shifts on a rotating basis. An average of 40 hours per week but actual hours will vary. Planned, holdover and call-out overtime are expected relatively frequently. A high acceptance rate for overtime is required. Ability to respond and report to the office within a relatively short period of time is required. Occasional travel is required.

Education Requirements:

Associate Degree.

Experience Requirements:

Two year technical degree or equivalent education and/or experience. Experience in distribution line and/or distribution engineering are beneficial. Must be able to effectively multitask. Must maintain a pleasant personality and composure when under pressure due to multiple tasks and work volume. Must have superior communication skills, both oral and written. Must have good vision including color recognition. Must have good hearing. Must satisfactorily complete, in such time frames as established by the Company, all required training to advance to the next higher classification within line of progression or vacate the current classification. The qualifications and related experience of the candidate will be considered in determining the position and salary grade offered.

Special Qualifications (Training, Skills ETC.):

Must pass the EEI System Operator Power Dispatching Position and the SASS Data Entry qualifying examinations. Must be able to use computer programs including word processing and databases as well as customized software. Must be able to perform data entry, review, and correction tasks. Must be able to learn to read and interpret electrical power distribution circuit diagrams and other prints.
