District Engineer

The District Engineer will play a significant role in the development and execution of capital and maintenance (expense) projects, while supporting the project management, engineering and technical support teams of Olympic Pipeline Company, a joint venture company within the BP Pipelines North America Business Unit (BU).


Accountabilities Include:

Demonstrate behaviors which promote a safe work environment in all aspects of the job.
Lead the stage gate process and coordinate input from project team members for project evaluation and execution.
Plan and lead development of contracting, purchasing, construction strategies and negotiation/administration of contracts
Manage project cost, schedule, safety, and operability, along with any other significant metrics of project success.
Interface with Pipeline BU Business Development Support Engineers to align the project objectives with business objectives.
Communicate progress toward achieving project metrics to the BU, project team members, and other key stakeholders.
Capture, appropriately communicate, and apply lessons learned and best practices on the project.
Work with the project Health, Safety, Security, Environment (HSSE) Coordinators/Contractors to develop and implement an overall permitting strategy.
Assist district management with the development of annual project plans and budgets.


Required Qualifications:
To be considered for the role of District Engineer applicants must have:

Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than your current employer.
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
A minimum of 5 years of years of petroleum industry experience in project design, engineering and/or management.
A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience with systems handling oil and gas.
Intermediate level desktop computer and software application skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and the internet.
The willingness and ability to travel up to 25% or more of the time in order to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.


Preferred Qualifications:
In additional to the required qualifications the successful candidate is likely to be able to demonstrate:

A minimum of 3 years of project management experience, including experience with the stage gate process.
A minimum of 3 years of experience managing engineering consultants and construction contractors.
Pipeline technical expertise and familiarity with Pipeline regulations.
Experience with wetland and Endangered Species Act permitting and mitigation.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
