Electric Scheduler / Analyst

Summary of Position: Facilitate the delivery and receipt of wholesale power and retail load scheduling with ISO?s, marketers and suppliers pursuant to direction from Traders and Management. Perform advanced technical and analytical functions in the areas of energy settlements, ISO settlements, industry decisions and rulings, litigation support and contract administration to ensure Hess?s accurate performance under its contractual agreements for the purchase, sale and transport of power in the wholesale electric market.  This person is required to have significant interaction with wholesale electric spot traders retail electric operations, electric accounting and other wholesale counterparties.

 

Responsibilities:

? Responsible for the scheduling of all power purchases and sales in all three NorthEast ISO?s, including bilateral, load bids, generator bids and virtual bids.

? Facilitate the delivery and receipt of wholesale power and retail load scheduling with ISO?s, marketers and suppliers pursuant to direction from Traders and management.

? Responsible for capturing all relevant scheduling data in a centralized system, used for reporting to the Company?s accounting and auditing teams. 

? Provide scheduling support as required to the Energy Trading desk.

? Assist in creating operations and financial reporting ? database and Excel skills required.

? Assist in reviewing and improving processes for the department, to optimize the company portfolio.

? Assisting with the implementation of new scheduling and settlement systems, and changes to existing scheduling and settlement systems to comply with ISO periodic changes and associated activities.

? Represent Company at relevant ISO meetings.

? Contacts generators, sellers and/or buyers to ascertain their requirements to identify and complete transmission transaction.

? Develop an in-depth knowledge of the physical power business including regulatory and tariff considerations and scheduling coordinator protocols and procedures for the assigned regions.

 

Dimensions:

? BA/BS degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, or Engineering or equivalent experience

? 2 to 3 years of experience in a trading and risk management environment

? Understanding of PJM/NYISO/ISO-NE power pools.

? Experience in energy trading and scheduling and/or systems operations.

? Experience in power scheduling preferred.

? Experience with energy trading trade capture and risk management systems and techniques preferred

? Self-starter with the ability to work effectively without direct supervision in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment.

? Flexibility and willingness to take on new challenges to support trading and scheduling activity as market conditions change.

? Ability to handle unexpected operational issues, questions and emergencies after hours as necessary.

? Extensive spreadsheet and database computer skills.

? Strong problem solving, analytical and conflict resolution skills.

? Accuracy and attention to detail, a must.

? Excellent customer service skills.

? A team player who is results oriented and able to adapt to change.
