About the Opportunity This Engineer is accountable for the planning of JCP&L's Distribution System and Local Transmission Network in the Northern Region of NJ. Investigates and develops studies to recommend and drive the necessary expansions and modifications to these systems to maintain a reliable electrical infrastructure that meets present and future electrical needs. Performs root cause analysis to resolve regulatory agencies and customer inquiries, which may be associated with outages and other reliability issues. Conducts field investigations and communicates with customers to provide recommendations and implement corrective measures. Demonstrates proficiency in engineering analysis software to model distribution system, calculate voltage drop and fault currents of circuits. Prepares budget estimates and schedules for system reinforcement projects. May be assigned special projects as business needs require.

Qualifications

Required

A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is required. A Professional Engineer's License is desirable.

Experience and knowledge of electrical theory, operations and maintenance practices, switching and tagging, computer systems, work management and electrical controls are required.

Must be able to demonstrate experience in effectively working and communicating across functional boundaries and provide total customer satisfaction.

Ability to identify and implement effective restoration processes and procedures is required.

Must be willing to travel throughout the service territory, and be willing to work extra and/or irregular hours.

Must be self motivated and self-starter, customer focused results oriented and a team player.

Must have effective written and oral communication skills; must be able to analyze data, write technical reports, develop work packages to implement recommendations and the ability to handle multiple assignments.

Must be able to provide storm restoration support and hazard dispatching duties during storm restoration efforts; receive, investigate, coordinate, and respond to customer inquiries/ complaints related to outages received through regulatory agencies, Company officers, and/or Company processes.

Must have power distribution and relay control work experience and be able to apply technical skills to solve practical problems.

Develop and provide technical information to support the Regional Dispatching Office to ensure safe and efficient operation of the electrical system.
