Engineer IV-I - DP

Position Duties

Engineering and design work related to transmission line design (engineering analysis, route analysis, structural and foundation design). Prepare bills of materials, design drawings, detail specifications, and documentation to aid construction crews. Facilitate communication of project information by utilizing AEP?s internal applications (Passport, PCS, PRA, etc.) Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing with internal and external customers. Utilize Transmission Line Projects Engineering (TLPE) specific applications, where appropriate (TLPE Standards, PLSCadd). Analyze, study, and prepare reports for individual transmission lines for up rating, re-rating or upgrading potential. Provide basic cost estimates using established standards. Monitor project expenditures and schedules for assigned projects and practice project cost control. Work with Project Management, Substation design, Supply Chain, Right of Way and others, where appropriate. Ensures all work activities are preformed safely according to plan and established schedules, in accordance with policies, standards and rules of the Company and in compliance with regulations and procedures required by external agencies. Provide leadership and training of personnel as requested. Provide technical design and project review. Participate in the development of plans establishing measurable goals, objectives and requirements relative to specific area of responsibility.

 

Work Hours / Travel Requirements

40 hours per week and casual overtime as needed to meet schedules. Project responsibilities dictate frequent travel, some overnight, and possible overtime depending upon project schedules and constraints.

Experience Requirements

Bachelors Degree in Civil/Electrical/Structural Engineering



Professional registration preferred. BS degree in Civil, Structural or Electrical Engineering required. 3+ years experience preferred. Experience with PLSCadd highly desirable. Other requirements include excellent written and verbal communication skills, a working knowledge of economic analysis methods, budgeting, and a comprehensive knowledge of utility engineering practices, construction methods, and material specifications.
