Environmental Coordinator (EC)

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Technical POC and expertise for management of local environmental issues.
Facilitates culture change through communications, Strong relationships with EED Operations regions/divisions and dotted line reporting to regional/division management.
Responsibility for environmental compliance, environmental emergency response, procedure development, local environmental awareness and information sharing.

Oversee contractor work in performance of spill clean up and remediation.
Support development of local environmental metrics and monitor on-going performance.
Investigates environmental, safety, and industrial hygiene issues for presentation to local management.
Environmental face of the company to local EED customers.
Perform other duties as directed.

1 Provide regulatory support / guidance, coordination and direction for local operating company and applicable local regions/divisions including (but limited to): waste management, PCB, solid waste recycling, regulatory compliance and field services. 24/7 environmental field emergency response. Initial point of contact (POC) for Federal, State and Local environmental agency inspectors.
2 Support development of first-level waste management and PCB policy and procedure guidance for EED businesses. Commitment tracking, and execution of commitments. Local trending and tracking for Key Environmental Performance Indicators. Support implementation of environmental initiatives.
3 Oversight of general environmental services contractors (GESC) in field. Review and processing of invoices for environmental services work.
4 Responsibility for local compliance with EED MSDS management, chemical control, and industrial hygiene programs. Initial point of contact for industrial hygiene issues in region/division.
5 Responsibilities for SPCC plan maintenance and implementation. 1
6 Liaison with regional technical and operating personnel to craft and facilitate delivery of awareness communications.
7 Interface with external customers as needed.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

- Minimum: -
B.S. in environmental science, or technical field and 5+ years experience in utility environment or in EH&S field or minimum 10 years field experience in utility environment.Working knowledge of PC, and Microsoft Office Programs. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Attention to detail, sense of urgency.Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and self-initiating.Demonstrated ability to analyze data, interpret information, and formulate recommendations.Demonstrated ability to work effectively in both individual and team-based environments.Demonstrated ability to build consensus, establish trust. Demonstrated knowledge of the fundamental principles of leadership.Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively and facilitate conflict resolution. Demonstrated business acumen, employee awareness and ability to create value. Valid driver?s license.
Broad knowledge of applicable RCRA, TSCA, Clean Water Act, spill response, and other applicable environmental laws and regulations. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams.Demonstrated ability to implement process enhancements and efficiencies including technology and performance.Professional certifications in area of specialty.
