Position Description:
Chevron Energy Technology Company is accepting online applications for an Environmental Engineer (0608-50043305) located in Richmond, CA or Houston, TX through August 27, 2006.
The successful candidate will work in the Chevron Energy Technology Co. and consult on Air technology issues with the Chevron Operating companies located worldwide. Requires experience in NOx, SOx, VOC, and air toxic emission control technologies. Experience and knowledge of VOC (infrared) leak detection technologies is a plus. Experience in emissions inventory preparation for greenhouse gas emissions, criteria pollutants, and air toxics. Knowledge of federal and state air regulations. Familiarity with stack sampling and ambient air monitoring methods and technology. May provide technical support for leg/reg advocacy and compliance assurance. Strong capabilities in project planning and management, strategic decision analysis, compliance assurance, and technology assessment.
We are looking for people who have strong passion for applying science and technology to business solutions. Will manage or lead environmental projects for international and domestic operations in Chevron. Expertise in broad range of environmental areas plus ability to work collaboratively with others in other areas of expertise and with internal business units considered a plus. Foreign travel with durations ranging from a few days to 3-4 weeks is required.
Qualifications:
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical expertise in specialty area. Ability to think strategically about environmental issues and to develop action plans to address those issues. Effectively communicate environmental issues to others and adapt technical knowledge to business applications; develop and deliver training on a range of environmental technology issues. Keep abreast of technology and regulatory trends. Maintain and build sphere of influence in technical, industry, and regulatory communities. Potentially work with industry committees in technical advocacy efforts with regulatory agencies.
SPECIAL SKILLS/ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Bachelor?s degree required in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or equivalent
- Master?s degree preferred in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or equivalent
- Relocation benefits will be considered.
- This is a safety sensitive Position.
SELECTION CRITERIA:

Understands the industry: working familiarity with the oil and gas industry
Flexibility: demonstrated ability to perform and adapt to technological and business changes; challenges paradigms; thinks expansively; takes risks
Experience working with industry committees in technical advocacy efforts with regulatory agencies. Working relationships with regulatory agencies.
