Journeyman Welder

 

Performs electric arc welding on carbon and alloy steels.  ASME code tested to weld pipe from 3/16? to 1? thick.  Performs heating and cutting on all types of power plant equipment including high pressure, high temperature, piping and equipment.  Performs pre and post weld heat treatment.  Understand basic metallurgy.  Performs mechanical maintenance and less skilled work as necessary.  Uses and maintains any equipment necessary to perform job.  Performs similar and related work consistent with the general nature of this job classification. 

 These positions require five years? experience maintaining an electrical generation facility, or other heavy industrial facility, or a welder military experience background, with three years as a Journeyman Welder. Successful completion of a certified welder apprenticeship, OR equivalent training must be documented and sent in with your application.

Applicants should have experience working with Oxy-fuel cutting and be able to demonstrate proficiency and in-depth knowledge of gas tungsten arc and shielded metal arc welding on high pressure tubing and piping. Applicants should also possess knowledge and skills in basic mathematics, welding safety, welding terminology, ASME Code Standards, tool and equipment selection, material preparation, and weld inspections. A valid driver?s license is required. Practical testing will be administered. Note: Only experienced industrial welders are eligible for consideration.

 

Salary:  $31.01

 

Testing: 

1st Round=SRA Reading and Written tests time allotted 5hrs, receive the recommended score and you will be invited back for

2nd Round=Practical/Hands On test time allotted 4hrs, receive the recommended score and you will be invited back for

3rd Round=Panel interview and Physical Abilities Test ( PAT) time allotted 4hrs
