We are currently looking to hire a GeoScience Data Manager to our staff in Houston

 

Job Description: Performs Landmark OpenWorks and SeisWorks data cleanup, data consolidation, well data and 2D/3D seismic data loading across multiple business units in a multi-server UNIX environment. Current job emphasis is on site-wide Landmark data cleanup and OpenWorks/SeisWorks data maintenance as a member of the site Project Data Management Team. Modifies and maintains the Landmark data environment in real time. Works well with customers to meet daily data requests. Desire to learn softwares available to expedite customer data requests. Serves as team expert for extracting required well data from master data sources. Troubleshoots software/data problems based on a firm grasp of interrelationships between Landmark applications and related data architecture. Develops, optimizes, and documents sound data management practices that address data loading standards, data scaling and data redundancy. Promotes data ownership and adherence to developed practices among technologists within Business Units. Periodically creates UNIX scripts to measure, monitor and guide definition of Project Data Management objectives. Develops and implements new ideas and solutions to improve the overall data management environment. Normally receives no instruction on routine work and general instructions on new assignments. Self-directed and responsible for meeting goals within time constraints. Provides guidance to less experienced team members and customers. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices, but is comfortable sponsoring and implementing better solutions.

Education: Earth Science or related degree preferred, but industry experience will be considered as an alternative.

Required Skills: Previous experience and capability in Landmark application support and data management; Skills set and track record highlighting accomplishments capable of fulfilling job responsibilities. Strong UNIX skills with some experience in shell scripting; Good understanding of relational database technology and basic sql. Good understanding of the oil industry. VERBAL & WRITTEN COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Effective communication and writing skills to teach and lead technical discussions. COMPUTER-BASED SKILLS: Ability to test and troubleshoot software prior to site implementations; knowledge of basic Microsoft Office products. Other Required Skills: 6 - 10+ years of experience with Landmark applications, others a plus.

Desired Skills: BP Data Environment knowledge would be an asset.
