Lead Energy Supply Analyst
This position is responsible for leading the development and execution of the financial and economic models necessary to support the Company?s energy supply strategies. This includes the planning and securing of adequate energy supplies at the lowest cost and in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. The position will actively support the Company?s interests during filings and presentations to federal and state regulatory entities, as well as private interest groups. The position will also support negotiations for commercial energy supply contracts.
1. Essential Functions:
? Constructs the financial and economic analytical tools used to develop electric and gas supply strategies consistent with the Company?s objectives.
? Completes economic, financial and technical studies in support of the Company?s Energy Supply positions, as well as any required by other departments.
? Assists management in negotiating and finalizing supply agreement buyouts and Standard Offer and Default procurement.
? Oversees the design and development of analyses and issues the results concerning requests for proposals and procurement auctions.
? Works with Company Senior Management and key external parties regarding the development of NSTAR strategies and positions within the electric and gas energy markets in order to ensure lowest possible costs for NSTAR customers while maintaining reliable planning and operating criteria.
? Coordinates the filing of various pleadings before federal and state regulatory agencies, including directing outside counsel?s development of positions and documents on behalf of NSTAR.
? Assists, and sometimes leads, the process of negotiating commercial energy supply contracts.
? Serves as a primary resource regarding the functions of the electric and gas markets to employees within and outside the Department.
Represents NSTAR at NEPOOL and other inter-regional committees (e.g. joint ISO- NE/PJM/New York ISO or NPCC) concerning studies and the development of recommendations affecting Markets and/or Reliability rulemaking within ISO-NE.
Technical Knowledge/Skill: Requires excellent technical, quantitative and analytical skills, along with good oral and written communication skills. Also requires computer modeling skills on complex systems.
Education: Requires a Bachelor?s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Business, related discipline or equivalent experience.
Experience: Minimum of eight (8) years related experience.
