Manages, directs, and implements maintenance objectives to ensure the achievement of subsidiary steam systems goals. Advises and directs employees on all issues related to the department and company policies. Focuses for short-term goals are on-time production, quality of output, output reliability, and economic viability of plant output.  Focuses for long term goals are the formulation, planning, and implementation of strategies in conjunction with those of the Plant Manager.

 

Essential Functions (list all functions that must be performed in order to do the job.



 



1.   Oversees the day to day functioning of the Maintenance Department to meet customer and company goals.



 



2. Reporting directly to this position are mechanical maintenance supervisors, and electrical supervisors.  Indirect reports to this position include maintenance mechanics and the plant engineer.







 



3. Is responsible for managing the maintenance functions concurrent with business growth, introduction of new operational systems, changes to systems and components, meeting subsidiary financial objectives, ensuring safety of operations and employees, on-time production and quality of output.







 



4. Assesses and assists in upgrading the supervisory and mechanic talent and skills bases to achieve growth and meet market needs, e.g., reduced cost, more efficient production, and reliable delivery.







 



5. Researches, plans, targets, and controls reductions in costs of operations.  Achieves yearly financial objectives.  Prepares, controls, and forecasts departmental budget.







 



6. Manages and assists in coordinating effort between support departments within the subsidiary.  Coordinates needed support to operations areas through intra-department interface for smooth work flow and cost-efficient output.







 





 



7. Provide a leadership role and participate in implementation of new processes and systems technology to meet the unit objectives.







 



8. Enhances productivity through written and verbal communications throughout organization. Keeps supervisors apprised of scheduling, production capability, problem areas.  Maintains a working rapport with all levels of employees.  Adept at resolving departmental conflicts.







 



9. Implements department policies and procedures that affect incumbent.







 



10.  Projects a positive image to peers and subordinates, to the customers we serve, to the industry in which we participate, and to the community in which we operate by producing a cost-efficient, quality output, and providing effective leadership to subordinates.



Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent experience required.  Seven years of facility management or building operations experience required.  Five years of supervisory experience in management, budgeting, vendor management, operations and maintenance required.  May require knowledge of mechanical, electrical Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) or Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems.  Demonstrated leadership abilities and organizational skills.  Demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills.  Able to manage and train entry-level personnel.  Able to deal with customers and others at all levels.  Knowledge of JCI procedures and policies.  Must be a team player, committed to working in a quality environment.  Requires the ability to travel.
