Object Oriented Developer

Our client seeks an Object Oriented Developer for a 9+/months contract project for their Houston, Tx office location.  The following is the job details for this opportunity.

This person will be part of the development team creating a custom gas scheduling and accounting system. This person will part of the technical/functional development team to create the most technically advanced gas scheduling/accounting system in production.

This project is one of the largest custom development initiatives undertaken. The team is comprised of many leaders in the IT Development industry in Houston and is building the most complete .Net frameworks ever created. This development initiative is one of the highest visibility projects in the industry.

Role Description

Develops program specifications/detail design documents. Codes, tests and debugs applications programs. Has participated in the application design of systems, including use of analytical techniques. Works under the direction of a team leader, senior technical leader or analyst. Develops prototypes from functional specifications. Designs application sub-systems and small systems. Develops program specifications/detail design documents. Has participated in the development of functional specifications. Codes, tests, and debugs complex application programs. Assists users in testing, training, and preparation for operations. Demonstrates an understanding of object-oriented development tools and techniques, has worked on multiple platforms and/or with multiple methodologies.

Candidate will perform object oriented development and ongoing enhancement as a member of the development team. This person must be a self-starter and be able to work autonomously and take initiative. All candidates must be very aggressive technically.

Responsibilities

Data conversion, interfaces, report writing; coordinating and testing system upgrades; working with functional and technical teams/consultant/application managers and users to determine project requirements and coordinate efforts with other technical/functional leads; develop technical specifications and write documentation; work with users to test and debug programs; provide user support for new/modified programs and production/operating procedures; work with functional and technical analysts to coordinate PeopleSoft updates, fixes, upgrades and installations; and undertake special projects and project management assignments as directed.

Deliverables

As a Object Oriented Development programmer, deliverables include modules around transporation agreements, followed by nominations.

Experience

Candidates should have a Bachelors Degree in Business or Computer Science with 2 to 5 years experience in business process improvement and Software Development Life Cycle; programming experience with SQL, .Net, Cyrstal, ERP system integration tools

Knowledge

Technical Attributes

Essential:

Ideal candidates will have the following skills in addition to the attributes described above:

- Object Oriented development experience (at least 4 years), Design Patterns knowledge

- C# (1-2 years) or Visual C++ (2 years) and/or other object oriented based languages such as Java or C++ (4 years)

- RDBMS development experience (e.g. Oracle, Sybase or SQL Server)

- OR mapping experience

- UML class model design

- Experience with any UML modeling tool

Preferred:

The following skills are nice to have but not an absolute requirements:

- Hibernate or nHibernate mapping development

- .NET XML serialization experience

- Experience with distributed caching system

- Experience with nunit, ndoc, fxcop, nant

- Experience working with Enterprise Architect

- Some RDMS data model design experience

- Familiarity with the ILog rules engine

- Familiarity with nUnit or jUnit

- Familiarity with remote procedure invocation (remoting, RMI, CORBA, etc.)
