Operations Process Safety Management (PSM) Coordinator
Location:
Texas City Refinery in Texas City, TX
Relocation Options:

The Operations PSM Coordinator will play a key role in helping the Texas City Refinery to sustain an effective process of timely and efficient closure of action items. The incumbent will be a member of the Process Safety Group within the Operations organization reporting to the PSM Director. The purpose of the process safety segment within the Operations organization will be to monitor, educate and promote adherence to PSM principles.
Accountabilities Include:
Receives and reviews all created action items developed through process safety analysis (i.e., process hazard analysis, management of changes, investigations, audits, site process safety committee reviews, etc.).
Determines if action items should be addressed site-wide when an issue could be common to other units within the site.
Identifies the most effective means of closure for an action item (i.e., identifies the personnel with the proper tools and resources to close an item).
Communicates directly with the personnel designated as the responsible party for closing an action item and seeks commitment and target closure date.
Sets commitment dates with the accountable party for closure of action items with functional guidance from the Health, Safety, Security and Environment PSM department.
Monitors the closure progress of all created PSM action items and maintains the sites awareness of current status.
Monitors future target dates and ensures actions are being addressed before the established target dates.
Works with the Operations PSM Director to ensure the unit PSM Coordinator role is being utilized effectively in an effort to manage and address existing action items.
Required Qualifications:
To be considered for the role of Operations Site PSM Coordinator applicants must have:
Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than your current employer.
A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
A minimum of 10 years of experience in an operations, maintenance or PSM role in a petrochemical/refinery environment.
A minimum of 1 year of experience managing projects.
Intermediate computer skills with MS Word, Excel and Access.
The proficiency in database management.
The willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time in order to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the required qualifications the successful candidate is likely to be able to demonstrate:
A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in an applicable discipline (i.e., engineering, chemistry, math or science).
Knowledge of database systems which support the monitoring of PSM-related action items in a refinery/petrochemical environment.
Previous maintenance and/or operations planning experience.
