Plant Accountant

Synectics has an opening in Philadelphia, PA. A Plant Accountant is needed to provide accounting services, including: preparing journal entries, maintaining and controlling physical records, and analyzing and reconciling EPS and Power Plant accounts. Job tasks also include preparing inputs to external financial reporting and assisting in technical accounting and reporting research activities (including capital vs. expense decisions); in regulatory, rate matter initiatives, and internal/external data requests; in preparing periodic depreciation studies; and in maintaining the Property Unit Catalogues. The Plant Accountant will interact with a variety of groups in all areas of the company including potentially training field personnel for Plant Accounting processes. The Plant Accountant will also assist in developing, monitoring, and following up on exception reports (e.g., cancelled projects, open projects with no activity, etc.).

 

Qualifications:

- Accounting degree (Bachelors Degree in Accounting), CPA preferred

- Previous utility experience with Plant, Property and Equipment processes and systems (preferred)

- At least 3 years of experience in accounting with public accounting experience (preferred), new hire from nationally recognized undergraduate accounting or MBA accounting or finance program is acceptable

- SEC and regulatory/utility accounting and ratemaking experience (preferred)

- Strong analytical skills

- Good written and verbal communication skills

- Good interpersonal skills and team working capabilities
