Project Engineer - NE

Our New England headquarters has an opening for an experienced Project Engineer with strong design and project management skills to ensure the successful completion of large-scale projects, which will allow for the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas to existing and future customers.
Such projects include: pipelines; peak-shaving facilities; regulator/take stations; bridge/railroad/water crossings; and other special capital projects.

Additional responsibilities include the following:

Develop engineering designs and contract specifications for proposed facilities, additions, modifications and improvements to large-scale projects such as: pipelines, peak-shaving facilities, regulator/take stations, bridge/railroad/water crossings and other special capital projects.

Provide technical expertise and support to Field Operations, Environmental, Marketing and Gas Supply Departments.

Provide project management services and direct construction activities on large-scale capital projects.

Evaluate and manage the implementation of new technologies and processes in Engineering.

Please indicate any additional specific tasks/duties/accountabilities:
Prepare Request for Proposals (RFP) for consulting engineering and/or construction related services.

Serve as Engineering liaison with outside technical consultants to ensure prudent engineering solutions to large-scale capital projects.

Prepare engineering design drawings and contract specifications for bidding to contractors.

Work with Purchasing, Environmental and Construction Departments to prepare bid documents and prepare estimates.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline and progressive engineering 5-7 years related work experience is required.
Professional Engineering Registration desired.
Strong knowledge of engineering design standards and applicable industry codes and regulations.
Strong knowledge of gas distribution systems, which include pipelines, regulator/take stations, peak-shaving facilities, bridge/railroad/water crossings and other special capital projects.
Knowledge of underground construction techniques and practices.
