Position Description:

Chevron is accepting online applications for a Project Manager* (0603-50150721) located in Salt Lake City, UT through December 31, 2006.

Qualifications:

POSITION DESCRIPTION AND ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
Global Refining has several capital projects planned. The Project Manager will manage capital project development and execution - including FEED, Construction, and Commissioning. Responsibilities include providing overall leadership; championing the application of CPDEP (Gated Capital Decision Process) principles; and driving the behaviors necessary to ensure high level decision quality and top quartile cost performance. The estimated capital costs of typical projects are in the $3-24 million range.

The project manager is responsible for:
- Coordinating all front end work leading up to the capital design phase of the project
- All design, procurement, construction and start-up activities
- Project business outcomes
- Establishing objectives and expectations for implementation of all necessary

Chevron Project Development and Execution Processes and tools, including obtaining ?Best Practical? FEL and Cost Index scores:
- Developing staffing plans for project
- Setting direction for experienced contract personnel
- Contract and purchase order development and placement
- Developing project objectives for safety, schedule, cost and operability

Critical competencies include:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of successful project management practices
- Ability to work in and foster a strong team environment with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of refining facilities and integration of project work in these facilities
- A strong safety champion who will lead the project in achieving ?0? incidents and injuries

The project will be executed in Salt Lake City, UT. Travel to the FEED/Design Contractors offices may be required.

SPECIAL SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS OR ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS/INFORMATION:
- Degree in Chemical, Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering required. Some travel required.
- Engineering Degree with minimum of 5 years project management experience.
- Project Management Training and/familiarity with gated decision making processes for external candidates.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
- A basic understanding of refinery/chemical processes/equipment and understanding of the interaction between refinery units is desirable.
- Self-motivated with the ability to originate and adapt to new ideas. Able to work without supervision.
- Ability to build a committed project team. Able to proactively champion capital project issues and see them through to completion.
- Able to plan and organize projects from inception to start up. Experience in Turnaround planning or capital project work desirable. Understanding of gated work process for projects critical. Able to handle multiple activities simultaneously. Knowledge of the planning/business side of refinery is desirable.
- Good written and oral communication skills. Strong ability to work well with other Refinery groups in cross-functional teams. Able to communicate ideas to a wide range of groups within the refinery. Good meeting facilitation skills.
- Effectively interface with Operators, Mechanics, Supervisors, Construction Contractors, and Management to complete projects on time and on budget to meets the business objectives. Ability to seek out customer's needs and prioritize own work accordingly.
