QI Processing Geophysicist

Location: Houston, Texas, United States Research, development and the deployment of technology for Shell's global exploration and production businesses is managed by Shell's technology division of Shell International Exploration and Production (SIEP). Two companies, one based in The Netherlands and the other in the United States, work together to provide a wide range of products and services to Shell companies in the sector. For more than 80 years, Shell's EP business has had central laboratories in each location to ensure that knowledge is gathered and shared among all Shell's Operating Companies. Shell's EP research center, Bellaire Technology Center, is one of the main technology centers for Shell globally, with other EP technology centers in Houston and New Orleans in the U.S. In-house R&D is supported by partnerships with external companies to maintain Shell's leading edge technology for supply to Shell companies as well as the open market. Shell International Exploration and Production Inc. is currently seeking a Quantitative Interpretation Processing Geophysicist for it's Houston, Texas location.

Responsibilities:
In this position as a Quantitative Interpretation processing geophysicist you will be primarily responsible for carrying out project management for seismic processing and giving specialist advice to the Exploration and Production regional deep water exploration teams on a wide range of seismic issues. The scope includes developing processing workflows for Quantitative Interpretation, earthmodel building (for Total Depth conversion, seismic inversion and pore pressure prediction) and Verticle Seismic Profile processing. This position will be held accountable to contribute to the Quantitative Seismology and Potential Field team's overall objective of ensuring quality seismic data with a view to full integration of the work products into the Quantitative Interpretation workflow. This will include offering advice, and contribute to or carry out: Seismic processing and selected special processing projects - e.g. pre-inversion processing Earth model building -e.g. 3D gridded velocity models as input to inversion and pore pressure prediction. Seismic acquisition design studies including Verticle Seismic Profile and 4D. Acting as the Seismic contractor liaison. Imaging technology deployment participation in Technical and Operational Excellence and R&D initiatives, and ensuring Health Safety and Environmental Regulations are fully implemented in the daily work and products are in line with the division and Shell guidelines

Requirements:
Preferrably an MS degree in Geophysics and 5 years of experience is required. Experience with modern Quantitative Interpretation (QI)  methods and the position of geophysics within Quantitative Interpretation workflows are a definite plus. A good understanding of seismic acquisition, seismic processing, seismic project management, and HSE related issues is required.
