Regional Technical Training Specialist

The Regional Technical Training Specialist is a full time position reporting directly to the Manager of Technical Training and will be responsible for the following:

 

1.  Provide Administrative Assistance:

 

- Establish and maintain communications with plants within their geographical assigned area and schedule regular (vendor type service / technical) support visits those plants;

 

- Provide plant training coordinators training on TS 205 requirements, using the Technical Training WEB Site (library) and plan, organize, and conduct periodic meetings, training sessions, workshops, or conferences;

 

- Monitor training activities and progress within their assigned geographical area and providing guidance and assistance to the training coordinators as required  

 

- Periodically visit and evaluate individual facility training programs; covering record keeping, course maintenance and usage, employee skill levels, and certification/licensing;

 

- Prepare periodic training reports as required by Corporate and/or Regional Management.

2.  Provide Technical Assistance:

 

- As necessary, assist training coordinators in organizing, developing, and/or conducting (combined regional collective training) classroom instruction or workshops covering technical fundamentals and/or specialized systems, tasks, or procedures;

 

- Prepare or assist in the preparation of operating procedures or guidelines for the facilities;

 

-  Review and, as necessary revise, update, or discard existing courses and programs;

 

- Conduct training and certification examinations as mandated by federal, state, or local requirements at specific facilities;

 

- Assist in various training related projects that may occasionally be required by the Training Department or Corporate Operations in Fairfield; (i.e., organize, manage, and, as appropriate conduct training at new or poor performing facilities);

 

- Participate in periodic Company sponsored meetings, training sessions, workshops, or conferences.

 

Education: 

HS Diploma & one or more of the following:

A degree in any of the following areas:

o  Physical Science

o  Engineering (Environmental, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Elect.)

Advanced education (60 credits) covering these areas:

o  Advanced math

o  Chemistry

o  Fluid dynamics

o  Thermodynamics

o  Material science

o  Combustion

Power related military experience

Technical School Certification in the power generation field

 

Note: The above educational requirements (except HS diploma) may be satisfied by the following experience requirements:

 

Experience:

10 years of acceptable power plant (or equivalent industry) experience which has included management positions (Shift Supervisor minimum):

o  Operations

o  Maintenance

o  Boilers

o  Turbines

o  Electrical Distribution

o  Instrumentation

o  Rotating Equipment (pumps, motors, etc.)

o  Fuel Combustion

o  Environmental

 

Certification & Licensing:

ASME Provisional certification for WTE

Any state licensing

 

Skills:

Self-directed, needs minimum supervision; posses the ability to plan and schedule individual work assignments in accordance with department and personal goals

PC skills - MS Office (Word/PowerPoint/Excel), Computer Based Training and Learning Management Systems  

Good oral communication skills and the ability to identify, develop, organize, set-up and conduct interactive classroom training sessions

Behavior skills to include:

Other:

Ability & willingness to accept assignments that require frequent travel mostly within but periodically outside the assigned region.  Travel periods are typically week long and in some cases up to two weeks.
