***SITE SAFETY COORDINATOR**Wind Power
CDI Business Solutions is currently recruiting for our client an innovative OEM for the Power Industry. This challenging contract opportunity is located near Abilene, TX. The successful safety coordinator will have previous experience working on Wind Power Projects with regard to personnel, equipment, facility buildings and work-related activities.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Ensure the site's compliance (Client and its various contractors) with regulatory and corporate policies and procedures involving safety, crane rigging and heavy lifting, workers' compensation, high-voltage electrical protection programs, OSHA record keeping, environmental controls and hazardous materials safety.
2. Continue the development and maintenance of site environmental, health & safety plans, procedures, process specifications and drawings to insure compliance with applicable customer, Federal (i.e., USOSHA and USEPA), State and local laws and regulations.
3. Monitor and assist the continual development of the Site's health and safety plans and procedures.
4. Document occupational injuries and illnesses, conduct accident investigations and root-cause analyses, and provide written and verbal reports to project management and the Client HSE Manager, in compliance with applicable federal and corporate requirements.
5. Assist in the analysis of occupational injury and illness to assess safety program effectiveness and promote improvements.
6. Coordinate and assist in the monitoring of employee medical program for field personnel in compliance with OSHA and corporate requirements.
7. Assist with and conduct safety, environmental and industrial hygiene meetings, agency inspections, audits and training courses for client and direct-contract labor employees.
PROFICIENCIES:
Working knowledge of regulations covering industrial and construction safety (i.e., 29 CFR 1910 and 1926), industrial hygiene, USEPA environmental controls (40 CFR) and worker's compensation.
Experience with Wind Power Generation construction is a plus.
Instruct employees in safety and environmental requirements and promote programs such as proper lifting techniques, hazard communications, fall protection, confined space entry, rigging, use of safety personal protective equipment, use and disposal of hazardous materials and methods to increase safety consciousness in the workplace.
DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Associate degree in Safety/Industrial Hygiene, Engineering Technology or equivalent from an accredited college or university, and/or a minimum of eight years work experience in construction safety/environmental compliance field.
DESIRED CERTIFICATIONS:
1. OSHA 500 Certification
2. OSHA 1910.269 High-Voltage Electrical Safety Training for Power Generation or equivilent
