Scaffold Supervisor
FPL Group, one of America?s leading energy services organizations, is comprised of several Florida-based companies. Our nuclear plant in Turkey Point, Florida, is a two-unit 1,386-megawatt plant and a pressurized water reactor located 25 miles south of Miami. Turkey Point has consistently maintained the highest safety and operational performance based upon the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's safety indicators as well as the World Association of Nuclear Operators' overall performance index.
Leader wanted to support a successful company?s drive into the future. Commercial nuclear power plant, with two pressurized water reactor units, desires a leader with a track record of successful material and personnel management, to supervise maintenance crews. Multidiscipline competence preferred.
This position requires that the candidate have demonstrated leadership and technical ability, as evidenced by successful management of maintenance crews in the areas of scaffold erection and dismantling, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance and/or outage related activities. Ensure compliance with all company and governmental administrative, environmental, and reactor safety procedures. Manage the performance of a crew of trained and qualified individuals as well as assist in training new members of the maintenance team.
Included is the performance and resolution of daily issues such as coordinating with key stakeholders on the scaffold needs for planned and emergent work items, spare parts determinations, scheduling of work activities, and assuring schedule compliance. Observation of work activities for assurance of correct maintenance, standards and coaching/training of subordinates as well as providing critical performance reviews of assigned personnel. Administration of the bargaining unit agreement as well as awards and discipline.
Specific experience requirements include:
?At least six years of maintenance experience in an operating facility such as nuclear generating units, fossil generating units, refineries or other major industrial facilities. A minimum of two years of commercial nuclear generating or six years of fossil generating experience is preferred along with knowledge of the basic steam and electrical cycle in a large generating facility. Six years of Naval Nuclear Propulsion experience may be substituted. Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
?Knowledgeable of applicable codes and standards for scaffolds. Examples include Competent Person, OSHA Certification.
Excellent leadership and managerial abilities are required. Must have high standards, be self critical, and results driven. Must have excellent technical aptitude for scaffold systems and scaffold erection. Computer competent, including Microsoft Office applications, required.
