South Texas Development Geologist -B

Location: Houston, Texas, United States Overview: Shell Exploration and Production Company (SEPCo) is engaged in exploring for and producing oil and natural gas reserves in the United States. A principle area of concentration is the Gulf of Mexico and South Texas.

SEPCo is currently seeking a South Texas Development Geologist for its Houston, Texas location.

Responsibilities:

In this position, you will be responsible for applying your geological expertise to the identification and maturation of both infill development opportunities and additional activities in Shell fields. Working in an integrated Development Team, you will provide quantified geological scenarios for risk analysis, reservoir performance prediction and well engineering support during the development phases of the Hydrocarbon Maturation process. You will participate in all aspects of integrated field development studies in particular identifying new well locations, reservoir performance studies, as well as the monitoring and review of drilling activities.

Key accountabilities include:
Taking a senior role in integrated field studies, being responsible for the integration of production geology work content and quality in a given study, Field Development and drilling campaigns
Facilitating the scoping of new projects; being involved in project framing and negotiations with our partners
Having an in-depth understanding of the application of static reservoir modeling techniques to a wide range of reservoirs and integrated reservoir problems
Having a hands-on lead role in the sharing best practices and coaching young geoscientists in the correct application of all production geology related matters and the proper integration of other discipline data into geoscientist deliverables
Undertaking Production Geological studies to develop geological models of key hydrocarbon-bearing reservoirs, as input to numerical reservoir simulation, reservoir development studies, Field Development Plans and well proposals
Ensuring that reservoirs are properly modeled in terms of stratigraphic and structural framework, rock properties and pore fill, using input from analogue fields, professional literature and industry research
Being a key driver in the development process for the fields with a view to identify risk and opportunities for adding commercial value
Actively pursuing the identification of new drilling opportunities and realize these.
Training and mentoring of less experienced staff in reservoir modeling and production geology skills

Requirements:

To be considered for this position, you must possess a Master?s Degree in Engineering and have approximately 8 or more years in an E&P Development environment, including the construction and execution of field development plans and participation in integrated field studies and reservoir modeling exercises.

Additional Requirements:
High level of appreciation of the impact field studies have on field development and business decisions
Strong reservoir modeling skills based on hands-on usage of such tools, together with a sound grasp of all latest Development Geology technologies
Wide ranging experience base, together with a comprehensive knowledge of the full range of Development Geology activities from well planning to field development planning is desirable, with proven experience in working in integrated teams, together with operational experience
Proven track record and experience in coaching and mentoring of inexperienced staff 
High level of competence in sedimentology and reservoir characterization, surveillance geology, static reservoir modeling, well planning, well-site operations geology, seismic interpretation, tectonics, field development planning, risk and uncertainty definition and management, and pre-drill pressure prediction
Ability to work successfully with a variety of disciplines 
Ability to stand-up to strong challenge and pushback from other disciplines in a complex matrix organization while driving forward integrated projects
