Sr Application Engineer (Electric Utility)

Summary of Responsibilities

 

The Senior Application Engineer/Developer will be responsible for ERCOT Energy and Market Management Systems (EMMS) development and for providing consulting services to ERCOT Security and Market Operations.

 

Essential Job Functions

 

? Work with Market Participants, ERCOT representatives, and vendors to deliver solutions for the ERCOT Electricity Market?s needs

? Provide consulting services to ERCOT Security and Market Operations

? Design, develop, and test EMMS and Web & Client/Server applications and interfaces

? Perform Data Modeling and Database Design

? Proactively identify EMMS application and interface requirements and develop solutions

? Coordinate support with multiple departments and disciplines

? Develop and give presentations and training for EMMS applications

? Establish standards, policies, and procedures for Development, Testing, and Migration

? Coordinate and implement changes to development, test, and production environments

? Represent EMMS Development Department at interdepartmental meetings

? Represent ERCOT at market participant meetings

? Serve as a member of  the 24/7 Production Applications Support team

 

Education and Experience Requirements



 

? Bachelor?s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science (an equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience may be considered) - Master?s Degree in Electrical Engineering/Power Systems preferred

? Minimum 7 years experience with Energy Management Systems, with background in EMMS applications, software, and solution development

? Experience with Fortran, C, C++, Perl Experience with market systems related to the deregulated electric industry preferred

? Direct experience with Alstom ESCA?s suite of EMS applications preferred

? Experience in design and development of Application Software using Oracle Database, Forms User Interface, PL/SQL, Java, XML and Web Technologies preferred

? Project Management experience preferred
