Sr. Director, Transmission Strategy & Control

The United Illuminating Company, headquartered in New Haven Connecticut is an investor-owned regional electric utility that provides service to more than 314,000 customers in the greater New Haven and Bridgeport area. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team in our New Haven Headquarters.

This position is responsible for identifying transmission growth opportunities by the rigorous application of financial and risk modeling. Actively seeks business relationships to bolster the success of the growth opportunities. Conducts extensive research and analysis including the development of sound business plans that include market analysis, forecasts, competitive activity, needs identification and resource requirements. Prepares business plans to define goals and objectives that build awareness and support of overall strategic benefits of the business opportunity. Provides financial analyses, long-range forecasting and analysis studies associated with each opportunity. Conceptualizes and implements ideas gained from research to stimulate business models and strategic growth opportunities. Researches and identifies trends, risks, P&L potential, conditions, customer needs and successful business models. Identifies and manages productive business relationships with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and select utilities to uncover business opportunities and develop solutions. Establishes methods to measure and assess the impact of the solutions and overall success of the business opportunity. Maximizes cost recovery. Initiates, develops, and manages strong internal partnerships with key stakeholders throughout the UI organization in order to successfully lead activities and efforts to increase innovation and creativity in identifying new business opportunities. Implements proper "controls" within the transmission business unit and project execution area.

The ideal candidate has an MBA and a minimum of 15 years business experience and demonstrated ability to effectively evaluate, structure, and negotiate strategic business relationships. Strategy and business case development experience required. Business evaluation and planning, knowledge of current transmission business, strategic direction, and industry trends desirable.
