Sr. Geoscience System Specialist

Pioneer is currently seeking a Sr. Geoscience System Specialist for its operation in Denver, Colorado.  The person in this position will, under minimum supervision, provide data management and technical assistance to Geoscientists, Engineers and management in order to facilitate the interpretation, integration and presentation of various different data types (seismic, well log, satellite, engineering, economic, commercial, etc.) so that O&G exploration opportunities can be analyzed, characterized, valued and appropriately presented. Utilize standard industry/vendor databases, mapping skills and spreadsheet tools in a GIS environment to provide technical displays, logistical support, planning, legal descriptions of land and acreage mapping for multidiscipline asset teams. Job tasks include the need to catalog, store, maintain and readily retrieve in hardcopy and digital formats, data, interpretations, analysis, etc.  Assist in preparation of displays and documents that characterize opportunities.

 

Associate?s degree required; Bachelor?s degree preferred in Geology or Geography related Sciences with a minimum of 10 years work related experience. A proficient understanding of Oil & Gas exploration data types and functions is required. Knowledge of how to use and implement GIS systems, including image geo-registration, data capture, map projections, and spatial queries.  Ability to work with various image types (CGM, TIF, GIF, PCX, JPEG), utilize basic mapping software, Arcview (ArcGIS 8.x), SMT, Openworks, Zycore, Microstation, commercial data products, Microsoft Access/Excel and Technical Illustration software (e.g., Corel Designer, Adobe Illustrator, PDF, PowerPoint Canvas?) is required. Must have strong database management skills.
