Sr. Inspector (Mechanical)

We are seeking a Sr. Inspector for our Project Engineering and Construction Department for our service territory from Eureka to Bakersfield.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide field inspection of both in-house and contract construction staffed jobs within the PG&E Hydro Generation system. Participate in taking and analyzing data on rotating and stationary equipment including documentation and pictures. Communicate with specialists, engineers and contractors concerning specific project information. Monitor all work performed to ensure quality and workmanship conform to company standards guidelines and follow contract specifications. Responsible for all aspects of project documentation including off site testing, daily logs, as-builts, inspection reports, photographs, create various graphs and sketches required to define detailed work. Compile a final project inspection report for each job. Read and interpret contract specifications. Provide field inspection of overall job site safety and environmental compliance. Ensure company and contractor personnel comply with company safety standards with all laws, regulations, policies and bulletins. Attend and document jobsite safety tailboards and do safety audits. Conduct contractor safety job briefings. Environmental steward and liaison. Have the ability to create and control a safe work area. Be willing to cross train personal and mentor the new generation of employees. Familiar with civil inspection duties, to backfill as a civil inspector when needed.

Requirements include: Minimum of 5 years of working in the "mechanical" field (not automotive). Must have valid California Driver's License along with good driving record. Need to be current on NEMA and International standards of rotating equipment. Require experience with Hydro Turbine vertical and horizontal rotating mass alignment. Understanding of basic electricity. May be required to work weekends and other overtime hours. Must be able to travel within our service territory as needed. Position requires heavy travel with overnight travel at times. Must be proficient on MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and MS Project programs. Knowledge of Confined Space Entry procedures and Air Monitoring equipment. Build effective working relationships with supervisors, peers, project management, engineering, construction, contractors and other groups. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Interface with clients to promote excellent customer satisfaction. Must be able to work in all kinds of weather conditions and work environments (i.e. steep and/or uneven terrain).
