Plan, execute and coordinate scientific or engineering research generating new knowledge and innovative technology for application in materials, products, systems or processes.Manage, develop and support primary investigators and technician staff in the catalyst research groupManage a portfolio of leveraged, global, research contractsProvide significant support to corporate efforts directed at development of advanced catalyst concepts related to exhaust emissions control, fuel cell electrodes, photoelectrochemical production of hydrogen and other catalytic systemsManage internal group projects related to development of advanced catalyst systems of importance to GMSupport corporate programs intended to integrate advanced catalysts into future corporate programs related to both product programs and production operationsIntegrate group catalyst projects with corporate aftertreatment development programs and chemical reaction modeling efforts Manage a global research project portfolio related to development of advanced catalysts and fundamental  catalysis knowledge conducted at universities and research institutes

Analyze technology trends/industry developments to generate new project areas and technical plans including the acquisition of new innovative technologies.

Represent and effectively champion technical area to internal and external technical community.

Identify and develop core technical skills and competencies for the research group.

Mentor and motivate other researchers in developing their capabilities. 



Basic Required:


Masters in physical chemistry, chemical engineering, material science or related field or equivalent experience

5 years experience in advanced catalyst development, catalyst system design, or equivalent
Excellent technical, business, leadership and communication skills. 
Must have led significant project programs and have a good mastery of project management skills.  Safety conscious, creative, reliable, and a strong team player.


Basic Preferred:

PhD in physical chemistry, chemical engineering, material science or related field
10 years experience in advanced catalyst development, catalyst system design, or equivalent
Research group management experience
Strong international technical reputation
Understanding of the current status and future roll out of advanced catalyst systems at the material science, economics, engineering, controls and vehicle integration levels
