ASSOCIATE ENGINEER - ELECTRICAL GROUP #0213
The Associate Engineer position reports to the Manager of Electrical Engineering at our headquarters in San Jose and interfaces with the Southern California Engineering Manager on a daily basis. This position is located in our Torrance office.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering requiredMinimum 2 years experience working in an engineering capacity requiredExcellent verbal and written communication skills requiredProject management experience required California Engineer in Training certification or California Professional Electrical Engineer registration desirableMasters degree desirableExperience in the following areas highly desirable:
? Design of motor control centers
? Knowledge of National Electrical Code
? Design of SCADA and PLC control systems
? Radio and leased line telephone communications
? Water and wastewater
? Electrical construction
? Working with consultants and contractors desirable
? AutoCAD
Primary Responsibilities:
Under supervision, works on all electrical engineering design, including the following: Supervisory Control and Data Acquistion (SCADA) and RTU design, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) design, wireless and telemetry communication systems design, FCC radio licenses, electrical motor control (MCC) and panelboard design, and electrical generator specifications. Under supervision, performs the following: prepare electrical drawings and specifications, work with contractors and consultants, manage project schedule and budget, handle multiple projects at a time, planning and cost estimating for projects, technical support for system operations and maintenance, prepare and award contracts and requests for proposal, participate in and support the Company?s Continuous Improvement Process.
The Company has in excess of $300 million annual sales, $750 million investment in utility plant, $80 million annual capital budget, and owns and operates the following: over 1200 electric motor-driven pumps from 5HP to 800HP, over 700 three phase electrical panelboard/MCC?s from 240V to 4160V, over 150 engine and generator sets from 25KW to 400KW, 20 SCADA systems with over 400 RTU?s, over 700 groundwater wells, over 300 water storage tanks, four surface water treatment plants, over 40 groundwater treatment plants, over 5,000 miles of water mains, and over 500,000 services serving a population of 2 million in 25 districts throughout California.
