Acoustic Analysis Engineer

DESCRIPTIONWichita, Kansas is the headquarters for Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., which was purchased by Onex Corp. from Boeing Commercial Airplanes in 2005. In addition to Wichita, the company has operations in Tulsa and McAlester, Oklahoma, and the United Kingdom. Spirit AeroSystems supplies commercial airplane assemblies and components, provides aftermarket support, and designs and fabricates tooling.

POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking an Acoustic Analysis Engineer to perform work in the Product Engineering and Technology area. This division consists of jobs which include engineering aspects of product and processes for concept development, product definition, design analysis, test, deployment, and post delivery support. As an Acoustic Analysis Engineer, you will research, develop, analyze, design, and test company products using engineering and scientific principles. Your main responsibilities will involve translating engineering and scientific concepts from preliminary ideas through product life cycle; analyzing and verifying product design and performance for adequacy, including reliability and researching and developing material and processes that support the translation from abstract concepts to a functional product.

To be considered for this role, applicants must have knowledge of acoustic technology (e.g. suppression, propagation research etc.) and a demonstrated ability to define test programs for acoustic research and to apply acoustic analytical techniques in order to determine suppression system program results and adequacy to meet regulatory, or specified, noise requirements. Apply knowledge of inspection tools and techniques to mechanical subassemblies, assemblies, installations, rigging, and systems.REQUIREMENTSThe successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to: apply knowledge of engineering and scientific methods and tools to define and characterize behavior of products, services, and processes; integrate technical, cost, value, and safety considerations into the product definition to comply with customer, regulatory, and company requirements; document results in drawings, data sets, reports, specifications, and supporting data; interface with other members of project or program teams, management, and technical staff to define and implement engineering solutions to meet group, organization, and company objectives.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

A Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (or related educational credentials meeting the ABET standards for engineers) and typically 4 years experience in an engineering classification is required to be considered for this position.
