Ammunition Systems Engineer V

Our Mesa Medium Caliber Systems Division is experiencing great growth and has the following immediate opportunity:

Reports to the Systems Engineering Manager and the 25mm Ammunition Program Manager.? The 25mm Ammunition Systems Engineer will have overall responsibility for the technical excellence of our 25mm products.? This entails leading the technical team to drive multiple technical issues/problems to swift closure, including oversight of the efforts of various external suppliers and lending technical assistance to them as required.? A Systems Engineer at ATK Medium Caliber Systems takes an interdisciplinary approach to problem solving and process improvement.? The Systems Engineer performs technical planning, requirements development, requirements management, system integration, verification and validation, risk management and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.? Analyses are performed at all levels of total system life cycle, to include:? concept, design, fabrication, test installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.? Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints.? Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.? The candidate must show strong technical leadership and self-motivation to lead the technical Integrated Product Team.? He/she is also required to travel to ATK facilities in Radford, VA; Rocket Center, WV; and Anoka, MN during the initial employment time period (up to six months) to acquire needed ammunition system knowledge and information.

Requires:

BS in any Engineering field, with minimum 10 years broad-based experience in that field.? Demonstrated strong leadership skills, leading a technical team.? Ability to absorb and assimilate large amounts of product data and program information in a short time period.? Self-motivated, executes well with little oversight/direction.???Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Desired:

?

Formal training in Systems Engineering, with at least 5 years experience performing as a Systems Engineer per the job description above.? Working knowledge in mechanical design, materials behavior and system integration.? Ammunition-related knowledge in the areas of projectile design, fuze, energetics such as explosive, electric primer, tracers, propellants and cartridge components.? Understanding of integrated ammunition systems and gun systems.? Strong inter-personal skills to interface with internal and external customers.
