Job Description and Responsibilities: 

Design and develop new applications and interface circuits for unique wireless monitoring and tracking products.  This will include: 

-  Using design specifications to determine interface requirements between our devices and the objects being monitored, including forklifts, railroad cars, automobiles, trucks, containers, etc.  Asset interfaces include power interfaces, sensors and actuators, relays, switches, contactors, and mechanical mounting.

-  Adding capabilities to our existing hardware by interfacing our devices with other off the shelf components such as GPS systems or satellite transceivers. 

-  Solving field problems related to product/asset interface issues.

-  Supporting production of product designs, including product documentation, Engineering Changes, DFM, test procedures and test sets.

-  Creating custom power supply designs and protection circuits for use with high and low voltage systems.

-  Developing low power, sleep current designs and schemes and battery interfaces.

-  Ensuring UL compliance for all products.

 

Some work will include analysis at customer sites to determine interface requirements.  Majority of work will be lab work, including design, development, prototyping and testing circuits and products that meet the required specifications.  Once completed, product performance must be verified at field test sites and transitioned to full-scale production. 

 

Applicable Experience:

-  Design and development of low-voltage power supplies

-  Battery and power management systems

-  DC-DC converters, LDO Regulators

-  Sensor design

-  Automotive or industrial vehicle system designs

 

Job Requirements:

-  Applicant must have BSEE or equivalent, preferably MSEE, and should have 4-6 years experience designing power supplies and/or low power electronics.

-  Knowledge of power supply design and voltage suppression circuitry. 

-  Knowledge of ORCAD or similar ECD, PCB layout tools, techniques and practices, and common design simulation packages (SPICE, Electronics Workbench, etc.)

-  Limited travel required
