Applications Engineer

Responsible for understanding system, software, and device level requirements for semiconductor development programs that include DSP processing, mixed signal components, and interfaces to external memory and processors directed at communications solutions. From this understanding, be able to write product data sheets, develop and deliver evaluation and reference design boards that meet relevant system requirements, and execute plans to validate these designs both in terms of hardware, software and system behavior. These activities require the ability to work and gather information across functional groups, external customers and product programs in order to determine the optimal solutions.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science plus 5-7 year of directly related experience. A Master's degree is preferred.

Qualified candidates should have experience in the following:
C, assembly, TCL/TK programming experience, C++ would be helpful
Knowledge of the PC architecture (HW and SW) and related interfaces such as PCI and USB
Knowledge of PC Audio (AC'97 and HD Audio capabilities)
Experience with board level design, debug, and modification
Schematic capture using Cadence Allegro Design Entry (Orcad Capture CIS)
Lab instrumentation and automation
FPGA Synthesis and Design
Good verbal and written communication skills

It is preferred that the optimal candidate have experience in the following:
Digital Signal Processing Theory
Knowledge in Telecommunications, and Mixed Signal Systems
