AuthenTec, Inc., with headquarters in Melbourne, Florida, is the world leader in fingerprint sensor security, innovation and sales to the PC, wireless, and access control markets. We are currently seeking an Applications Engineer for Embedded Software to be based in Melbourne, Florida.
Job Description
The applications engineer will be responsible for technical field support of AuthenTec s fingerprint products. Primary focus will be in the area of embedded software in the wireless / mobile phones / PDA products. Engineer will be responsible for support of Device Drivers in Windows CE, Symbian, Linux and other embedded operating system environments. The applications engineer will serve as the primary customer technical interface and, therefore, must have strong communications skills. Applicant must be able to identify, debug and resolve driver issues on customer platforms. Will work closely with the engineering and application solutions teams to identify/understand issues and drive customer problems to closure. This individual will interface and provide primary communication between the customer and the technical development team.
Required Education/Experience:
? BS or MS in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience required
? 3 - 5 years of software development experience, with specialization in any of the following required: Windows CE, Symbian or Linux device drivers.
? Direct experience engaging with customers in pursuit of new product design-ins and technical support a must
? Experience in Linux device driver development highly desirable
? Extensive knowledge of embedded hardware architectures (TI OMAP, Intel XScale, Freescale iMX, ARM) and fundamentals required.
? Full understanding and extensive experience with embedded operating systems, kernel mode driver architectures, and Windows operating system required
? Strong C/C++ programming skills required
? Experience in Java development for mobile platforms desired
? Knowledge of embedded platforms security standards a plus
