Applications Engineer - Gaming Industry

From the development of the world's first electronic coin mechanism in the late 1960s to today, MEI has the largest world-wide installed base of unattended payment mechanisms which are relied upon for handling more than one billion transactions every week. 

 

An opportunity now exists for a Gaming Industry Support Representative to provide the front line support for casino customers that purchase MEI products for their application. The primary focus of this role will be to provide end-user support of the SC Series and ZT1200 Series Bill Acceptors directly to casino customers and to MEI Gaming Distributor(s)/Service Centers in the Western and Central Region. A secondary focus of this position will be to provide back-up support for the Eastern region and to the MEI Gaming Integration Team that supports identified Gaming OEMs in the Americas. In addition this position will be responsible for training new customers and existing customers that purchase MEI Gaming products. This position is expected to travel approximately 50% of the time.

 

Role and Responsibilities

 

Field Support (Western & Central Region):Work with MEI Engineering and MEI OEM Integration Team to provide root cause analysis for field reported problems Provide required support to complete customer VAT (Value Added Trials) to include installations, collecting and reporting product performance data and distributing the data Provide on site support of MEI Field Trials; installation of units and collecting data as needed Work with sales to proactively call on operators to respond to technical questions or issues; document these proactive calls to Technical Support Manager Develop relationships with key technical contacts within casino accounts Schedule and perform customer product trainings Provide secondary field support to the Eastern Region and to the MEI OEM Integration Team Distribution / Service Center Support:  Interact with Gaming Distributors and Service Centers to ensure they have the required up to date tools and training needed to repair Gaming Products Marketing:  Works with Marketing to ensure 100% product preparation for trade shows and customer events

 





Experience and Knowledge



 



We are seeking someone with an established background in Technical Support related activities. You must be a true manager of change to achieve success in this role. In addition to high motivation and commitment, we are seeking the following skills and knowledge:

 

Minimum qualificationsA minimum of an Associate's Degree in Electronic Technology, Computer Science or Engineering - equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered A minimum of 5 years with direct customer service experience in a technical industry, preferably as a Technical Support Engineer Proven skills in electromechanical equipment repair and troubleshooting; a strong mechanical aptitude is essential Previous experience in a customer-facing technical support role Demonstrated ability to work alone or on a team Experience with the creation and delivery of training seminars to small and large groups Demonstrated ability to resolve electrical, mechanical and software technical issues Knowledge of communication protocols and ability to diagnose issues utilizing a protocol analyzer Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks Strong written and verbal communication skills ? including the ability to tailor style to the target audience Excellent attention to detail and accuracy required Demonstrated sense of urgency Basic computer skills (Microsoft? ) Excellent verbal, telephonic and written communication skills Excellent problem solving skills Excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude

 

Desired qualifications



  Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or in a Technical field desired 3 years Gaming Industry experience preferred Familiarity with Casino Slot operations preferred Familiarity with the different systems contained with a Gaming machine ? including various peripheral devices, player tracking systems and wide-area progressive systems preferred Demonstrated knowledge of the different technical needs among departments within a casino
