As a Manager of User Experience at VeriSign, you will oversee the day-to-day activity of a User Experience team; define tools, processes, and methodology; and strongly influence the form and behavior of VeriSign's products and services.
You will work closely with Program Management, Engineering, Product Management to understand customer and end-user requirements, and create design artifacts and specifications that meet or exceed said requirements. You will also work on the design and usability of our core technology platform and administrative tools.
Responsibilities
Management (30%)
- Oversee the day-to-day activity of a User Experience team (define tasks, provide guidance, critically review workproduct)
- Define tools, processes, and methodologies employed by the User Experience team
Design and Usability (35%)
- Work directly with customers and with VeriSign Program, Product, and Project Management to gather, understand and refine requirements.
' Create sketches, workflows, site maps, wireframe diagrams, taxonomies, and prototypes in support of new and ongoing projects.
' Work with Engineering to evaluate the feasibility of proposed solutions.
' Perform design reviews and discount usability tests of developing and existing projects.
Specification, Production, and Informal QA (35%)
' Write user interface specifications that capture proposed designs in detail sufficient to enable Engineering to implement without ambiguity.
' Work with Engineering in a proactive and timely manner to ensure that designs can be implemented.
' Produce deployment-ready graphical resources for customer engagements and for internal demonstration and "core technology" products.
' Review early implementations for compliance to spec.
Qualifications
' BA/BS degree in Human Factors or design (Industrial/Graphic/Product);
' 8+ years of interaction design experience;
' A demonstrable track record of successful design;
' Strong knowledge of interface design processes and methodology;
' Familiarity with design issues for desktop, Web, and wireless device platforms;
' Familiarity with industry-standard graphic design and prototyping tools;
' Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
' Scheduling and time-management skills, including the ability to multitask and meet agreed-upon deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
' Commitment to teamwork, performance, and a positive attitude.
Desirable Skills
' Expert proficiency with design tools: specifically, VISIO, Photoshop, Image Ready, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver
' Prior experience producing designs that scale across multiple platforms and multiple device form factors
' Deep technical familiarity with the capabilities and constraints of desktop, Web, and wireless device platforms
' Ability to hand-code and debug HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, and Flash at a level sufficient for vertical prototyping
' Outstanding presentation and interpersonal communication skills, and commensurate experience in evangelizing design methodologies and specific strategies to large corporate clients and their internal teams
