Associate Project Engineer
The Associate Project Engineer is responsible to assist with the definition, technical direction and completion of engineering programs as assigned by the Manager Project Engineering or VP Engineering, under general supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Proposal Development: Interpreting customer RFP requirements, working with multifunctional proposal teams in the preparation of the technical approach, project plan, WBS, schedule and evaluation of cost and risk, assist with the Production of winning technical proposal volumes.
2. Project Management: Under the direction of the senior Project Engineer for specific programs, assist with the Planning, coordination and verification of assigned program activities. Activities include assisting in the coordination of the Software, Digital, Electrical Power, Mechanical, Configuration Control and Technical Services engineering departments, assist in the Development of system concepts, including functional and physical requirements definition and partitioning, Ensuring requirements flow-down into the product architecture, participate in design reviews to ensure that product elements meet requirements, Test requirement development and review of product test compliance, Evaluation of ongoing project risk and risk mitigation planning, Preparation of ?estimates to complete? and management progress reports.

- 1 to 5 years experience
- Position will be directed by a Senior Project Engineer.
- Products: Power Conversion products. AC and DC output power systems from approximately 500 watts up to several hundred thousand watts, primarily for military applications, mostly Navy.
- Practical electronic knowledge electronics, reading schematics, manuals, data sheets, building, testing and trouble shooting electronic items is a plus. Often candidate may be required to troubleshoot or work on prototype power systems.
- Will be trained to develop schematics, bills of material, procedures and other documentation requiring good reading, writing and communication skills. Person will learn by doing. Supervision along with mentoring will be provided.
- Power conversion experience is a plus.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Must have ability to respond to common technical and program inquiries.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Must have the ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, permutations etc. to electrical/electronic design and analysis.
REASONING ABILITY
Must have ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Must have ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) and to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
