The Opportunity:Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative and meticulous individual for our Associate Compliance Engineer position. Associate Safety Compliance EngineerResponsibilities: Provide general technical guidance to New Product Development teams and Manufacturing concerning issues of product safety compliance standards and testing. Develop and refine internal Engineering Standards and Technical Guidelines in the areas of safety standard compliance. Continually identify, measure and improve all processes that affect SEL product compliance to UL/CSA, IEC, IEEE and CE safety standards or requirements. Perform all necessary testing required to ensure that new SEL products comply with applicable safety standards. Assist in the selection of external testing facilities or purchases of (compliance related) capital equipment, as required. Coordinate product testing and certification with UL/CSA and other agencies or regulating organizations. Represent SEL in safety compliance related discussions with key customers, suppliers and regulating organizations. Evaluate all proposed product changes and component changes which may negatively impact continued compliance of SEL products with applicable product safety compliance standards or requirements.Qualifications: B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related background One to three years experience in the area of Safety Compliance Engineering, with a strong knowledge of UL, CE, CSA, IEEE and IEC Safety Standards Strong working knowledge of common safety compliance related test equipment, test chambers and testing practices. Self-motivated/self-starter Strong writing, documentation and speaking skills Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment Background check results satisfactory to SEL Negative drug test result(s)Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software Knowledge of key technology trends in the Compliance Engineering field Membership in appropriate professional organizations related to Compliance EngineeringAn Award Winning CompanySchweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc.
